An evening of authentic African cuisine, fine wine and live music.
Join us on 11th June for an informal evening of authentic African braai from the grills of former England cricketer Matthew Hoggard MBE, fine wines courtesy of Vin X Tasting Cellar and the electrifying tunes of a live African band.
Hoggy's Grill
"I'm here to share my passion for grilling with everyone who loves great food and good times. We use only the best locally sourced meat, fish and veg. Grilling isn't just about food; it's about connecting with friends in a laid back , fun atmosphere. Oh, and vegetarians and vegans? You're not forgotten - I've got some incredible plant-based dishes too."
Matthew Hoggard MBE, was one of the leading lights amongst Yorkshire's bright young things, but it was under the astute tutelage of Duncan Fletcher and Nasser Hussein that he grew into the senior bowler of the England quartet that swept all before them in an unbeaten 2004. In the following summer, Matthew returned to contribute nine wickets at Trent Bridge and The Oval , as England sealed their first Ashes victory for 18 years.
In the years that followed, Matthew turned his talents and love of good food to grilling, and Hoggy's Grill was born. Combining a cookery school and event space offering BBQs to suit every taste, budget and fuel type, Hoggy's Grill aims to provide a personalised service to help customers find the perfect grill and teach them how to get the very best from it. We're delighted to welcome Matthew to The Apple Tree, where he'll serve up a feast of braai, and take part in a Q & A session. An absolute not to be missed evening for lovers of great food and sport.
Vin X Tasting Cellar
Centrally located on Main Street in Barton Under Needwood is Vin X Tasting Cellar, in which Warren has created a relaxed, convivial space where the name of the game is exploring great wine. With superb access to fine wines from around the world, Vin X has an extensive collection to savour, with something to cater for every taste. Whether it's a private wine tasting event, or socialising at the bar with friends, Vin X has you covered.

So we're really excited that Warren will be bringing both his knowledge and a selection of South African wines to our Taste of Africa evening ... the perfect accompaniment to Hoggy's braai BBQ.
